I am going to do the 2014 review in parts so I can get it posted...not because I think my life is that interesting :)
January
If this month had a theme it would definitely be waiting! I started the month by beginning the weekly OB doctor appointments and with every one, they kept telling me it wouldn't be much longer. So every time I kept thinking I would be going into labor soon....oh so wrong! During this time I also "celebrated" my 30th birthday by refusing to acknowledge it and working. The week before my birthday they told me that the baby was too big and I would need a c-section. I was terrified and not happy with that idea so I let it completely ruin my birthday weekend. The only highlight was having a hot dog for the first time since April..my biggest pregnancy craving.
Enjoying a hot dog from Dude's Drive In
Roses & a balloon from Justin
We ended up scheduling an induction in hopes that I could avoid a c-section and that was a success!! At a few minutes after 4:00 pm on Friday, January 31 we welcomed Colin Corrigan Butler to the world. I want to do a post in the future about his birth story! He weight 9 lbs and 3 oz and was 20 inches long.
February
We went home from the hospital on Sunday, February 2nd. This month was full of learning experiences. Colin developed colic so our evenings were spent trying to console him. My parents had experience with colic because of me so they were a HUGE help.
Colin saw his first snow...I'm sure he'll remember it! This was also the first day I felt like getting up and taking many pictures of him. If you know me, you know I LOVE pictures so this was telling of how bad I felt. I had so many ideas saved and pinned for "photo shoots" during those first hours, days and weeks that never happened. Anyway - back to the snow...it started around midday on the 12th and continued on into the 13th.
This picture was taken on the morning of the 13th and we had around 13 inches. This was the most snow Justin had ever seen also!
Let me backtrack to the 12th and show you a couple of pictures from our mini photo shoot
a head full of dark (red?) hair!
Daddy & Colin before Daddy shoveled the driveway on the 13th
I took a few pictures from inside!
I had Justin take some from outside!
Colin celebrated his first holiday - Valentine's Day
my handsome little guy!
March
Colin developed what we were told was cradle cap and we went to the doctor several times trying to figure that out. He also celebrated his first St. Patrick's Day.
March brought the day I was dreading - going back to work. It wasn't that I thought Colin wouldn't be in capable hands...I just didn't want to leave him! After 7 weeks, it's hard to imagine not being with him 24/7. The day before I returned to work, I had mom come hang out with us so I wouldn't spend the day alone and crying! She got some pictures of me playing with Colin!
April
I was still trying to get a routine down in April and we were also trying to figure out what was wrong with Colin's skin as his face continued to get worse. I plan to blog about this in a lot more detail.
We also celebrated Easter in April.
My mom, grandma, dad, us and Justin's mom after church on Easter Sunday.
Our first Easter as a family of 3!
4 generations!
After church we took a few pictures of Colin outside and then he was being silly while we changed him and I got some pictures of that adorable smile!
May
I apparently didn't get any pictures on Mother's Day so here are a few from other times during May!
Colin loved this ball! It went everywhere with him and it was so funny to see him hanging on to it in his car seat!
He also was finally big enough to start playing in his exersaucer that we got at the shower. He absolutely loves this!
And it begins...matching father/son outfits!
Colin turned 4 months old and his ties arrived just in time for this picture!
I'm going to stop with May because June has quite a few pictures! I hope you've enjoyed seeing the first 4 months of Colin's life...more to come soon!
